“The Longest Ballot Committee was responsible for adding 85 of the 91 names on the Carleton ballot, though none of them got more than 57 votes. UN report says Canada should repeal MAID for people with non-terminal illness
“A recent report by the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has asked Canada to repeal medical assistance in dying for anyone without a terminal illness. Presented last month at a meeting of the committee, the report recommends Canada create a federal MAID watchdog to look into complaints and investigate the causes that lead to people with disabilities applying for assisted death in the first place”
EU chief unveils €800bn plan to rearm Europe
“A five-part plan to bolster Europe’s defence industry and increase its military capability could raise nearly €800bn and help provide urgent military support for Ukraine after the US suspended aid to Kyiv, the head of the European Commission has said. Ursula von der Leyen said the 27-member bloc would propose giving member states more fiscal space for defence investments, as well as €150bn in loans for those investments”
